DOMINION (Trailer)

Set in 1920s Indochina, DOMINION tells the contrast between the daily life of peasants under French colonial rule and the opulence of the local bourgeoisie. Through silent, tension-filled images, the trailer of the short film weaves together opposing destinies until revealing, in a surprising finale, that history is not only memory, but representation, illusion, and the cyclical imprisonment of the gaze.

֍ FRANCESCO BALILLA PRATELLA: «OPERE PER CHITARRA» - (Notturno - Napolitana - Roma) Curatore: MAURIZIO MAZZOLI -Editore: Ut Orpheus Codice: CH 111 ° The three original guitar pieces, "Notturno," "Napolitana" (popular songs), and "Roma" (guitar march), along with three transcriptions, are part of a 36-page manuscript bearing the title page, "Transcriptions and compositions by F. Balilla Pratella sent as a gift to M. R. Brondi (1920)." These compositions follow traditional language, are in key, and the alternating themes are typical of Pratella the folklorist, with singable and melancholic melodies, except for the march, which echoes the 19th-century compositions of the guitar masters. The use of a quadruplet tremolo, not alternated with the thumb, is characteristic, immediately reminiscent of the plectrum instruments so widely used by Pratella in his youth. The discovery of these pieces – which occurred by chance and were saved from certain destruction – contributes to highlighting that period of great guitar ferment preceding Segovia, which took hold in Italy in the early twentieth century, with three compositions by an author who, together with Bonaccorsi and Colacicchi, anticipated that trend – already initiated by Fara, Gabriel, and Caravaglios – which in the following decades went under the name of ethnomusicology.

Johan Severin Svendsen was a Norwegian composer born in the 19th century who composed symphonies,concertos, chamber music, songs and a ballet amongst other works. Possibly his most famous work is his opus 26 originally for violin and orchestra, here transcribed in 1907 by Maria Rita Brondi who had just returned from her studies with Francisco Tarrega ... An absolute stunner for any higher-intermediate standard duo to have in their repertoire. This album is volume 2 of a publishing project by Orpheus Edizioni titled 'Maria Rita Brondi's Library' (edited by Maurizio Mazzoli) which is presenting music from her collection of handwritten scores and printed sheets.
